In his 1961 book ‘What is History? English historian Edward Hallett Carr defined history as an “unending dialogue between the past and present.”
To understand ourselves and discover our true calling in life, we need not only explore our individual place in the current society but also investigate the legacies of our ancestors, whose journeys have colossally shaped the people that we are today.
The administrators of this website have come from completely different walks of life. Despite calling different countries home, being in various stages of life and experiencing life in different lights, we found each other through one thing. Geneaology. Through our DNA tests, we were able to discover a whole new meaning to family which not only enabled us to find more relatives along the way, but become a Sherlock Holmes and unravel the mysteries and histories of our family.
Our Hyndman legacy is one that cannot easily be found or known, but with a lot of help and guidance, this website was created to enable all Hyndman ancestors and historians to journey with us to uncover the legacy of the Hyndmans. This website will never be complete as history is “an unending dialogue” and each new leaf turned over leads to hundreds of unanswered questions.
Enjoy the ride, it’s going to be a wild one!
